Tucker Maxon School:

Where Every Child Has A Voice

Tucker Maxon's Mission

Since 1947, Tucker Maxon has taught children to listen, talk, learn and achieve excellence together. Their small classroom environment has an average of 8:1 student-to-adult ratio. The curriculum and teachers focus on academic excellence, building strong communication skills, and supporting social and emotional intelligence.

"Our goal at Tucker Maxon is to help every child reach their full potential in school and in life."

Tucker Maxon Co-Enrollment

Tucker Maxon is a unique school where deaf/hard-of-hearing (DHH) and typical hearing children learn together. These two groups learn from each other. Moreover, learning alongside students who are deaf and hard of hearing, typical hearing students learn to value differences and become strong communicators. Unquestionably, learning and playing alongside their typically-hearing peers, deaf and hard of hearing students learn to listen and talk from their friends. Together, these two groups grow, learn, and achieve academic excellence.

Feeding Students at Tucker Maxon

Feed the Mass welcomes opportunities to partner with peer organizations in Portland, and we're honored to be feeding Tucker Maxon students during this school year! Feeding students is an integral part of what we do, and it's one of the early inspirations for why our founder, Jacobsen, created Feed The Mass. We love to share the wonder of culinary diversity with future leaders, and that's exactly what we get to do by partnering with Tucker Maxon School. You can support the meals we provide to these students by giving today!

Equity & Inclusion

Tucker Maxon School's commitment to equity and inclusion is woven into the fabric of everything they do - just like at Feed the Mass. They are "committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion. Our human capital is the most valuable asset we have. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities and talent that our Board and employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and school’s achievement as well."
